We held this past June the 3rd edition of the “Arte e Pelle” contest, this year featuring 15 competitors ranging from diverse art, design and fashion schools from Milan and Florence, selected from over 50 candidates. The students met with our team and were presented a preview of HCP’s F/W 2020-2021 theme, Nature Upcycling, and were asked to use this theme as their inspiration in creating an artistic piece featuring our exotic skins.
The leather was used in diverse ways, creating 15 completely different pieces all centered around the importance of sustainability, recycling and giving new life to something otherwise unused. We believe that providing students with the opportunity to express their creativity through art while using our exotic leather is an important way to innovate and learn just how limitless the possibilities are when using such a precious material.
On June 26th 2019 the finalists gathered our showroom in Milan to show their creations to our clients. Invited brands representatives and customers were invited to vote for their favourite piece. All of them had the chance to learn directly from each student about each of their artistic vision and what their inspiration was. After an aperitivo and a special speech by HCP’s Industry Director Annabelle Gaillard, who came especially to be with us that evening, we were proud to announce that Pierluigi Difrancesco won the competition with his piece entitled “Lo Spreco è la Peste del Nostro Secolo” (Waste is the Plague of our Society).
His piece will be on display at HCP’s stand at our major leather and fashion fair, both in Paris (Premiere Vision) in September and in Milan (Lineapelle) in October.
